I hadn't read the Lux series, but after finishing this I had to go pick them up! The nice thing is, they gave enough back story that I could read this first. It's great when the spin-off series do this. In this book, Evie's life changes from the first time she meets Luc at his night club. The story draws you in from there, and even though there is the "insta attraction" and least you find out that there's a reason for it later on in the storyline. To me, this was definitely a guilty pleasure read, like most YA books are. I did like The Darkest Star and the characters better then the ones in the original series, which is a change of pace for me. If you loved the original I feel you will love this one even more.
