You know how you have movies that are so great you're like, "No sequel please this is perfect how it is!" but then you get the sequel and you have to begrudgingly admit "Okay that wasn't bad...what else you got?"
That's what Jennifer L. Armentrout did with this baby. She gave us Deamon and Katy and then feed us Luc and Evie! The Darkest Star was the book hangover cure I didn't know I needed until I read it.
The favorite thing about the spin off is that it is it's OWN STORY. Nothing recycled or regurgitated. Yes we do see some fan faves from the Lux series BUT the story and characters stand on their own. There is no shadows to get from under.
The romance doesn't overshadow the action. It's perfect balancing act that only Jennifer can do!
