I really enjoyed the original lux books, but unfortunately I did not enjoy this one nearly as much. (also I'm less of a fan of this cover. I'm not sure if I will end up reading the sequel either. I think I'm good just sticking with the memories of what I have read.
I'm glad to have read this one for the fact that I like Luc, and it was rather emotional to see some of the characters from the Lux series, especially Daemon. That made me feel wonderfully nostalgic. However, there were many things that did not made me happy whilst reading The Darkest Star, though for brevity's sake, I won't detail them here except to say that Evie wasn't a very memorable main character. I actually had to look up her name unfortunately.
I wish this had been kept just as the original series truthfully.
