So this book is a spin off in a previously established world. I read the OG series so long ago that I thought it might be a struggle, but this book does a good job of reminding readers what happened/ what they missed.

For the characters, Luc is refreshing. As an upper teen, he is sarcastic and sardonic in all the right ways. Evie is a lovely counterbalance to that. There are tons of supporting characters, but nothing feels overwhelming to the main two.

It feels as if we will experience the world along with Evie, which is fun to have that refreshing perspective. I do wish that she would spend more time asking questions rather than being afraid do everything, though. She is great, but needs some development. This is the first book, so we will see how that plays out.

I think the chapters and sentences flow so well and Armentrout’s writing style is so easy to read that I can’t wait to see where this series goes
