I was open to this synopsis even though I haven't read the original Lux series, but it didn't really click for me. I know paranormal romance is supposed to be light and fun, but this excerpt felt cliche even for the genre. Too many overplayed tropes about mysteriousness for me - mysterious hot guy, mysterious club, mysterious history with the main character's mother.
