I read the first three books of this series in really fast succession this past summer to prepare for THE DARKEST LEGACY and for the movie of THE DARKEST MINDS. And honestly, I only stayed for the Ruby and Liam storyline because I'm a hopeless romantic. I loved Zu from the start and pushed through to this book because I was excited for her to be the center storyline of a book.
This book is full of strong, female characters: Zu, obvi, and Priyanka was a welcome addition. I liked the "original" characters popping in and out intermittenly and I really did love Roman.
I will echo some other reviewers that the pacing was a bit slow at times and the book could have definitely been about 100-150 pages shorter—but overall, I gave this book a 3.5 / 5 (the other books in the series have gotten 3-ish stars from me).
