When I saw The Darkest Legacy was coming for release, I was so excited. I had just recently read the Darkest Minds series and fell in love. With a movie and another book coming out, I was ready!
I was disappointed.
I feel bad giving a star review because to be one hundred percent honest, I didn’t finish the book. I tried. But after it sat untouched on my table for a month with a bookmark at two hundred pages, I gave up.
Zu made a fantastic supporting character — which says a lot about Alexandra Bracken and her writing skills because Zu is a character that says few words — if any. But as a main character, I wasn’t impressed. I felt her actions in this book didn’t go with what she would have learned from the original trilogy, and it made it difficult to read.
Hopefully I’ll be able to give it another go in the future, but as of now it’s in the DNF shelf.
