Great even if you haven't read the first three!
I must say this up front, I have not read any of the other books in this series, although I have been meaning to for years. Surprisingly (or maybe not to those who have read the other three books) I didn't have a difficult time following what was going on, but I am vaguely familiar with the premise and have seen the trailer for the movie enough times to get the general gist.
I liked that the action propels this book, and the world building and character development is excellent. The book could have been a bit shorter, because some parts just seem to take forever to get through. I really liked Zu and the way she develops throughout.
My advice--even if you haven't read the other books, just go with it, you might enjoy it! If you like dystopian fiction, this one will definitely not disappoint.
