First of all I'd like to mention I'm not a typical dystopian genre reader, and I've not read any other of the novels in series Darkest Minds. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the realistic yet futuristic aspect of it. Zu was an amazing character I enjoyed going on a reading adventure with. Her courage as a young Psi in a world that had so much trouble going on. The rescue mission for Ruby was long and emotional. The plot twists in this were great. It's as if you were lead into trying to guess who, what, where and how in most situations. When Liam' s character came into the story more so than just the glimpses Zu had after returning to Haven, I felt for him in his turmoil! I so badly wanted them to find Ruby I couldn't put the book down. I needed to know. Like I mentioned previously, I'm not a typical reader to go for the dystopian genre novels but this was a novel that has me wondering about the before novels in the series. I would recommend this novel to anyone who likes to read within the dystopian genre but also to those like myself whom do not think they'd enjoy the genre.
