The main critique I have for this book is that it was very difficult for me to figure out when these events were taking place. It was a little disorienting to go from Zu being a little girl, only just speaking her first words in years, to being in the mind of a strong, mature leader. It didn’t feel like the world had made progress, and the other characters seemed to be in their same positions, so it just didn’t seem like much time had passed in any area except for Zu herself. I really like the new character Priyanka - she reminded me a lot of Vida. I also liked how old characters like Ruby, Liam, and Chubs were mentioned, but did not steal the spotlight from Zu and the newer characters. I thought some of the new plot elements were a little excessive, but still believable in the scope of the world.
