I'm not the biggest fan of this excerpt. I found it strange that at one point there was an outside narrator who made reference to the book's protagonist, and would have preferred to hear about the story from the characters themselves. While I tend to enjoy true crime, I found it a bit hard to get into this story and think it could have a better hook. However, this is only a short excerpt and I'd be willing to keep reading a bit more to see if things picked up for me.
