Jessica Goodman nailed it with The Counselors and it is easily my favorite book of hers.
Goldie is a townie who took is hated by locals after a tragic accident. Her only solace is Camp Alpine Lake and spending summer as a counselor with her best friends, Ava and Imogen. This summer is off to a terrible start when the body of Goldie’s ex boyfriend is found in the lake. From there, the summer and her friendships unravel.
Wow!! This book. Omg. I seriously loved it so much and didn’t want it to end. The thing I loved most was the special bond Goldie, Ava, and Imogene had. It was so sweet and really screamed summer and best friends.
This book was also dark! I mean, obviously, there was a murder after all. But wow I just really didn’t expect it to go the way it did. I had my suspicions of a few people early on that ended up being correct, but I still flip flopped the whole time.
Seriously such a good book and the perfect summer mystery.
