Overall I enjoyed this book. I never know what I’m going to get when reading a teen/young adult book but this one was entertaining. While I had figured out some of the pieces of the reveal I found the reveals to be surprising.
I enjoyed the character development and the fact that I could go from hating a character to liking them. I especially enjoyed the relationship with Heller and it was particularly satisfying to find out he regretted the decisions he’d made and wanted to make things right in the end.
The tax evasion and embezzling portion was a bit of an eye roll for me. While it was a surprising reveal it just felt like a bit of a stretch. Also, the friendship between Goldie, Ava and Imogen felt weird. Do teen girls really crawl into bed and snuggle with each other? I’ve had a lot of friends over the years and many sleepovers but maybe we were the weird ones.
