Goldie, Ava and Imogen are what you would call lifers at Camp Alpine Lake. Graduating from campers to counselors this year, they are excited for what the summer has in store for them. Ava and Imogen are from the affluent crowd who flock to this camp. Goldie is only there because her parent's work there, which makes her tuition free. She is what is known as a townie. Over winter break, Goldie found her first love and kept it secret from her best friends. Then, things went sour when an accident happened on New Years Eve which Goldie took the blame for. Weird things are happening at the camp this summer and when Goldie's ex Heller, turns up dead in the lake, she is desperate to find out why and who is to blame.
I really enjoyed this story. Being someone who's never been to sleep-away camp, it was really interesting to see how such close relationships are formed and how there is so much camaraderie and love for camps in general. The characters in this book act like camp is the best part of their year and lives. It makes me wonder if I missed out on something growing up. I really enjoyed the mystery aspect of this book and how everything became connected and ends were tied up at the end. I also enjoyed the dual timelines! I'm definitely a Jessica Goodman fan!
