The Counselors has all the hallmarks of a summer camp thriller, including counselors with shady pasts, townies who hate the camp, and a main character who just wants to enjoy the New England summer. Despite there being little real action in the First Impression, the writing does allow the reader to get to know the characters and setting.
The jacket cover makes this book seem like more of a slasher story than it seems to be in the First Impression, but is definitely eye catching. Overall, despite the slow start, I have a feeling this will be an interesting read!
