After serving 18 months in prison for a drug charge, Tara has returned home to attempt to get her life back on track. Tara isn’t exactly thrilled about moving in with her siblings; her brother Eddie is a single father who faces many difficulties due to a traumatic brain injury, and her sister Geraldine seems to be hiding something that is wearing on her. Attempting to make the best of the situation, Tara attempts to move on, but soon faces a new obstacle when Brian, the cop who arrested her, shows up, threatening to unravel and uncover all of the secrets held by the Connellys.

The Connellys of County Down is a touching novel that shows the strength of love within a family, as well as the pain that family can cause each other. The story is so well written and it drew me in right from the beginning, although at times the narrative seemed to drag. I really enjoyed the characters. They are so well developed, honest and relatable, and I found myself immersed and invested in their lives. Eddie was my favorite character and I loved seeing his growth within the tale. The Connellys of County Down is a heart-felt novel full of love, drama, and perseverance.
