I love a good story about siblings and the Connellys certainly have a story to tell. Tara is fresh out of prison and trying to start her life over while living with her high strung older sister, her brother who suffers from the effects of a traumatic brain injury, and his young son. Tara needs to find her place in her family as she tries to find a job and build relationships again. However Tara isn’t the only one struggling with changes and maybe everyone needs to finally face the past before moving forward.

I loved the dynamics between the siblings as they loved each other fiercely and hurt each other unintentionally. Lange is a wonderfully descriptive writer and has created fantastic characters even in the supporting roles. I wish the romance had either been given more depth or had been eliminated altogether. As choices are made and secrets are revealed they all come with potentially enormous consequences. However the ending comes at such a fast pace and everything is so neatly dealt with that it was underwhelming. I want a little more heft to the resolution. I still really enjoyed this book and will definitely go back to read the author’s debut.
