I’ve had Tracey Lange’s previous novel, “We Are the Brennans” sitting on my shelf for awhile but have been hesitant to read it due to the mixed reviews I’ve seen. However, after finishing Lange’s latest novel, “The Connellys of County Down,” my hesitations have vanished! Seriously, this book may just be my favorite book of 2023 - it’s that good!
The writing style is fantastic - there is a good flow and pace throughout. It never seemed to drag (in fact I had a hard time setting this book down at all!). The characters are perfectly depicted - each seemed entirely human and lovable despite their many flaws. I adored all of the relationships in this story, but the relationship between Conor and Tara was especially sweet. The storyline was unexpected and unique; I’m beyond grateful the characters got a good ending (for awhile near the end, I wasn’t sure which way it was gonna go!).
In my opinion, this book is definitely worth a read. I know this is one story that will stick with me for awhile to come.
