Tara Connelly is currently being released from Taconic prison, but her brother and sister isn't picking her up. Before she is officially released, there is someone there to see her and that someone is Brian, the guy who arrested her in front of her brother, sister, and very young nephew.

Brian came there to apologize for how it went down. Ever since she was arrested 18 months ago, he hasn't stopped feeling bad about it. Since Tara doesn't have a ride back home, Brian offers to drive her home and she accepts, but she needs to stop by at the toy store as she saved enough commissary money to buy her nephew a set of Legos.

Tara is curious as to who put about $2,000.00 in her account while she was in prison as her family cannot afford to put that much money in. She goes to Roland Shea's house and the cops who arrested her (Brian and Hank) see that. Roland is a drug dealer who has gotten Tara to carry drugs from one place to another. They take note of it and Hank is the one who actually reports it to Tara's probation officer. When Tara talks to Roland, she finds out that it wasn't Roland who put the money in her account.

When Tara meets with her probation officer for the first time, she brings Brian there because she is so nervous. When her probation officer brings up her encounter with Roland, which violates her probation and she doesn't realize it. She is so scared to go back to prison, but her brother, Eddie, saves the day and explains what happened. Her probation officer will look into it to see if the story is true or not and tells Tara not to do it again. She also tells Tara to stop investigating as to who put money in her account and to just get her life back.

Tara tries her best to stay out of trouble. She helps her brother Eddie out with his son, Connor. She tries her best to help her sister, Geraldine, out, but Geraldine is just so stressed out with work and Tara coming back home and changing their routine.

Will Tara be able to find a job? Will she be able to be financially independent? Since Tara coming home, what happens with Eddie, Geraldine, and Connor?

I really enjoyed this book. The first 50 pages were a bit slow and probably a 4 star rating for me, but once the book started gaining momentum and there was more character development, I really couldn't put the book down. I needed to know that Tara would be okay and that her whole family would be alright. I loved the story about "The Connellys of County Down" as it really encompasses how they are as a family, but in a fantasy storytelling way. I also loved the joked that Connor told.
