Thank you to Bookish First and Tracey Lange for a copy of The Connellys of County Down. I don't give away spoilers in my reviews.
First, the cover is beautiful and I immediately wanted to know who the Connellys were. I liked all of the siblings, especially Tara.
The Connellys are on their own and have been for a very long time. Their mom passed away but not before enriching their lives with her Irish fairytales she created just for them. Their dad isn't part of their life.
Tara was easy to like - her strengths and sense of protection of others was an important aspect of the story. I loved her close relationship with her nephew, Conor.
I rooted for Tara throughout this whole book and was often frustrated by her decisions, but really liked the family togetherness. I also liked how her Irish upbringing factored into her life. Her siblings, Geraldine and Eddie, were also strong characters and blended into the storyline.
The ending was just right.
