I liked this read but didn’t love it

I really enjoyed the author’s debut book and was thrilled to get an ARC of this book. The cover is beautiful and the blurb drew me in. Ms. Lange covers family dynamics well, especially not shying away from the gritty details. This is another messy Irish family holding secrets. What worked for me in this book but what didn’t work took away much of my enjoyment so it ended up coming out even in the end. I really like Tara’s character and her relationship with Brian. I liked the chemistry between Tara and Brian. Overall, I felt the male characters were missing something making them feel more real. My main issue was I felt Jeraldine was all weakness with not enough rounding her out. Reading her sections were painful to me. It made it difficult to balance with the other sections that I enjoyed more. Overall, I would recommend this to those that enjoy gritty family dramas.
