I wasn’t sure on this as I wasn’t in love with We Are the Brennan’s but I enjoyed this one much more than I did the author’s debut novel. I feel like it brought more complex drama this time around. It was a slower paced story, especially the start, but I enjoyed getting to know the characters and their complicated backstories.
I was a bit frustrated by the amount of miscommunication in this, especially for adult characters, and thought the romance side plot was unnecessary and very unrealistic given the situation where they originally met. I may just not be nice enough of a person but I would not be so ready to just forgive and forget that history.
I really like the authors writing style - its very to the point and doesn’t get bogged down in unnecessary details or rambling descriptions. I recommend you pick this up when you’re looking for a twisty family drama that’s a quick read!
