I really enjoyed this book. The characters were so three dimensional and the family and relationship dynamics were portrayed in a way that made it feel so personal to the reader. Family is such a hard topic to capture correctly because it's just so complex and it can differ a lot between different cultures and whatnot, but The Connellys of County Down does an amazing job humanizing everyone, and really making you root for them. I particularly liked Tara's character; to me, she seemed so human and so real. Of course all the characters were well fleshed out, but Tara had relatable motives and a captivating story.
Forgiveness and second chances plays such a large part in this story, and those themes are sometimes heart-wrenching to read about. You really feel for Tara, her sister, Geraldine, and her brother, Eddie. They went through a lot to get to where they were, and you really get to explore that in-depth.
Ultimately, this was a good read and I think anyone interested in family drama should give it a shot.
