I really love Tracey Lange's style of writing and was so excited to grab a copy of her second novel. I enjoyed We Are the Brennans, but if anything I think The Connellys of County Down is even better. I would highly recommend this one.
I think this author in particular excels at expressing really honest family dynamics. The specific situations may vary, but there is real complexity in every family and I think she does an amazing job of capturing these intricacies. The family dynamics feel very lived in and familiar - there are major and minor dramas, but throughout it all there is a common thread of love that you can really feel.
Beyond the family dynamics themselves, I just think this author does such an incredible job of crafting fully realized characters. She writes her characters with so much depth and compassion - it's impossible not to root for them, not to want the best for them in spite of any and all flaws.
As I said, I would highly recommend this one - especially to lovers of general fiction with a focus on family drama!
