I really enjoyed this gripping thriller about one lucky orphan, Margot-with-a-T, and the unexpected good fortune of being taken in by the extremely well-to-do Suttons. But luck like that tends to come with a high price. I felt that the tale was easily predictable, but it was written in such a fantastically eerie way I didn't find the predictability a drawback. The atmosphere of the novel was so well-built that at one point I was entirely engrossed and my puppy pawing at my back made me jump a mile in the air. And talk about captivating, I finished this in one day! I just couldn't put it down! I kept telling myself, oh I'll just read a little more, but then something else would draw my attention in and I couldn't help it, I kept reading. Margot was a classic orphan character, trying hard to please and not be a burden. Agatha was my favorite. Her build-up was intriguing. Every new thing she did was so wrapped in mystery. This is one of the few thrillers to have me really on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened next!
