For some context I have already read Katie's Bad Girls Don't Die series and The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall.
I will say that this is a really well written book and Katie continues to do a great job with her storytelling. This was not really a scary/horror book but more of a mystery. Having come from her other horror books, I started the book being a bit psyched out by the minor "spooky" events but very quickly figured out this was a laid-back book. Absolutely would not consider this a horror book, just a bit of a dark gothic fic. I did not find it too suspenseful either as it was fairly quick and easy to figure out what was going on. Overall, it was a good read with a quick plot (no time was spent on cliffhangers) and well-developed characters. While it had a different vibe about it compared to the other books I have read of Katie's, I still think it is an excellent book and would absolutely recommend it.
