This was a total binge read for me, and for good reason.
Margot is an orphan after a horrible car accident which kills her whole family. After spending time in a girls’ hone she is adopted by a family of a man her father went to school with. The family is incredibly rich and live in this huge, secluded gothic-y mansion. But their is an ulterior motive to bringing Margot here. The family has a daughter, Agatha, who is sick. Agatha can move and feed herself, but doesn’t talk and seems almost catatonic. Margot is to be her “companion”.
When I read the beginning of this As a part of Bookish First first looks I was like YES. This book has all the necessary creep factors for YA horror. Although I did end up figuring out the plot twist this book was highly enjoyable and I read it in less than 24 hours. If you love stories about orphaned teen girls who get adopted by rich people who take them to live in gothic mansions with their catatonic daughter for a friend, you are going to love this book. 🖤
