Margot's entire family dies in a tragic car accident that has Margot waking up screaming most nights. She is asked to live with the Suttons because Margot's father saved Mr. Sutton's life when they were in college. Margot finds out when she arrives at the Sutton estate (huge estate out in the country, no cell phone reception, creepy house) that Mr. Sutton isn't just returning a favor, there is a favor Mr. and Mrs. Sutton are asking for in return. They want Margot to become the companion of their daughter, Agatha. Agatha was a normal teenager until recently when she fell into a mysterious catatonic state. Margot is really creeped out when the parents want her to sleep with Agatha in a room decorated for small children. Thus begins Margot's stay with the Suttons.
I enjoyed the characters of the book thoroughly. The story is told from Margot's point of view, who is quite funny. The other characters are believable. I don't want to say much more about the characters because I don't want to give anything away. It's a book that I hated putting down and could not wait to get back to.
Although this is a Young Adult book, I have to say I am not in that age group and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
