First of all, thank you so much to Bookish First, Katie Alender, and Penguin Teen for this amazing book! It was completely creepy and twisted and I really enjoyed it! It was basically a YA thriller/horror book and I love the genre!
This book is about Margot, a girl who is taken in by a family when tragedy happens in her life. She goes to live in a creepy old mansion after her family is killed in an accident. She is chosen to be a companion to Agatha, a creepy and silent child. Margot is so happy to have a place to go, especially when she meets Agatha’s brother, Barrett. A small romance starts to bloom, but things in the mansion are not as they seem, and soon the house starts to mess with her mind. What is real and what is the creepy house?
Thoughts: I really enjoyed the way this book was written. There were SUPER creepy parts and also lots of happier parts, like the romance, that broke the tension. The writing style kept me interested and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. The location was perfectly creepy and I liked how invested I was in the story. I was definitely a YA book which isn’t my usual read, but once it started picking up I enjoyed it a lot. It was a bit predictable, but in the end I still enjoyed it and gave it 4 stars!
