This book hooked me right away. The writing style of The Companion was really enjoyable and kept me on the edge of my seat. This is probably too small of a detail to put in a review but the author has a great variety of sentence lengths that kept me engaged, sometimes authors have too many same length sentences and it pulls me out of the story for whatever reason.
The storyline was well developed and for a horror novel surprisingly fun.
Agatha was a heartbreaking character, especially when compared to Margot. But soon I found myself questioning everything.
The ending was really shocking and I found myself sad and just absolutely terrified. Though I have to say I wasn’t scared through most of the book like I am while reading other horror novels. I’ve heard really good things about this author, Katie Alender, so I will be picking up her other books ASAP!
