Margot absolutely does not need anything else complicating her short life. In fact, she could definitely use a break.

But what she gets isn’t anywhere close.

Already this book is amped up to eleven. There’s so much tension you could filet it and serve it with fries. Somehow you already feel as if twenty terrible things might happen any second.

Margot’s voice is poignant while still gritty and she’s so strongly painted. Thankfully we get to see into her thoughts through the first person narrative, and she’s ridiculously observant. I find myself needing to know what she was like before because this strength is almost unsettling.

The setting is perfectly presented with just the right amount of fragility and the supporting characters already provide a great backdrop for Margot’s potential nightmare.

Looking forward to being scared out of my wits with this one!
