I'm a big fan of Kate Alender's writing her books are fun and has enough twist and turns to make you stay interested. The Companion was a different book for her at least from what I remember and I loved it so much. It has the gothic manor vibes with the mysterious doors that must stay locked, the crazy family that your now sure who to trust or what your thinking!

Margot thought she found a temporary home after the horrific accident that only she survived what she found was a crazy house that isn't going to let her go and she might have survived one horror and traded it for another. There is some creepy stuff going on in that house and she isn't sure who she can turn to or trust.

Yes I saw the plot twist coming but I was so into the storyline and hoping Margot could get out that I didn't care. The writing was solid and I could invision the manor and the grounds. A fun creepy book that is good any season.
