Highly anticipated YA horror mystery!
I love the creeping horror at work in "The Companion." It starts off with a bang, and after 4 chapters left me wondering why I hadn't heard of it before now.
Newly orphaned, Margot is soon settled in an rich, Gothic home owned by seemingly nice people, only she's expected to play at being a friend to their daughter who for some reason is non-responsive. No one knows what happened to her...
Can't wait to see what Margot comes to discover. Her internal no-nonsense dialogue is an enjoyable contrast to the tragic tone of the book so far, and the irony running throughout is great (she's "lucky"). Looking forward to reading this one.
