From the moment I read the synopsis for The Companion, I was eager to check out the preview and learn more about Margot's tragedy and the events that followed. From the first lines, Katie Alender had me hooked. A tragic accident that would change the course of Margot's life forever. The preview allowed us to read the first four chapters of the novel, and when it ended I knew that this was a book that would be jumping to the top of my TBR pile.

At first glance, Margot does truly seem to be lucky. She survived the accident unharmed, and while her family may be gone she has a new family that seems to be welcoming her into their lives and their palatial estate with open arms - only there is a catch. Margot can have this new life, this new family, provided she acts as a companion for the Sutton's beautiful but silent daughter Agatha who is suffering from some unknown ailment that has changed her from a bubbly teenager into a silent, sullen shell of a girl.

I'm eager to read more and discover the cause of Agatha's ailment. I have a feeling that this idyllic family may not be what they appear to be, and with their property remote with no cell service to speak of Margot may be on her own...
