After reading the first few chapters on The Companion, I feel sympathy for Margot. Her entire family is killed in a car accident and her time at the Palmer House (orphanage) was filled with screaming nightmares. For this reason, Margot was not very popular. Fortunately, or unfortunately for Margot, Mr. Sutton owed his life to Margot's father after he saved him from drowning earlier in life, so, they decided to take in Margot. John and Laura Sutton's motives were not completely altruistic. Their daughter, Agatha, was ill and needed a companion. Enter Margot. Although the Sutton's had an enormous house and property, they wanted Margot to stay in the same room with their catatonic daughter, to keep her company. Now this is creepy. I cannot wait to read more about how Margot and Agatha get along living together. So many unanswered questions with the sneak peak. Is Agatha faking her illness? Is the house haunted? Is Agatha haunted? I must know more! The cover is spectacularly creepy. I would pick up the book and buy it based on the cover alone. This book is very intriguing.
