I read A LOT of YA, and what struck me from the beginning of this book is that Margot seems like a very real teen. Her voice is spot on, and she is making decisions and taking risks because of what will be beneficial for her--even though she instantly senses that something is just not right with her new guardians and family. The descriptions of the grand estate are particularly filled with foreboding, too. And what a cliffhanger to end on!
