I have SO many thoughts about this read. Sarai Walker is an author who blends metaphor into her stories so well and so cleanly. She created a character in Sylvia Wren that weaves a story of mystery and intrigue with her journals. She, herself, is a mystery all her own.

While she appears to live a reclusive life in her new home, she's lived a full life of art - covered in love and covered in pain. From her blood family to her new family, she has fought through the pain to embrace the love - fighting for her mother and her sisters and now for love all her own.

From start to finish, Walker's story sets a layer of suspense over a descriptive, flowering story of sisters who loved and lost and loved again. Walker's style of writing is a beautiful weaving of literary fiction with mystery. She leaves readers wanting more at each turn - keeping them guessing for Sylvia's end.
