I really enjoyed this novel! The Cherry Robbers is atmospheric and slightly creeping, but also compulsively readable. It follows the Chapel sisters, heirs to the famous Chapel Rifle Company, and their lives as they navigate a family curse. The house all 6 sisters live in with their mother & father is a character in itself, full of secrets and art. Their mother is truly unhinged, and has been since birth, and then placed into an unhappy marriage -- the curse that killed all of the women in line before her transfers to her daughters, and one by one, they die of mysterious causes. It reminded me of The Virgin Suicides, but with ghosts and curses. The prose was so lovely and I wrote down many quotes about family, identity, and being haunted by the past that really spoke to me as I was reading. I was so pleased to receive an ARC from HMH books of this phenomenal novel -- pick it up!
