I LOVED this. I truly had a hard time putting it down - I was hooked from the beginning, needing to know how Iris became Sylvia.

In the beginning, we're introduced to Sylvia Wren, renowned artist. But we soon learn that Sylvia hasn't always been Sylvia - and her past is far more complicated than anything I could have imagined.

Flashback to Connecticut in the 50s - Iris Chapel is the second youngest of six girls, and she watches as her older sisters get married only to mysteriously die shortly after. As she gets older, she knows she needs to escape - but her mother was eventually committed for trying to speak up about the curse, so how will Iris?

This was such a page-turner, and it's certainly not as straight-forward as it sounds. The circumstances surrounding each sister are always a little different, and I had to know what happened to them. I also found the relationship between Iris and her mother to be really interesting, because Iris was the only person who paid any attention to her - I couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if anyone else did.

Overall, I found the book to be really well-written and I'm looking forward to reading more from the author. I felt like I got to know the characters well and could picture everything as it happened. I also liked the two timelines, although I felt like the present-day story felt rushed at times.

Highly highly recommend!
