Unique Story, Captivating Narrator
Prior to reading The First Look of Sarai Walker’s gothic fiction novel, The Cherry Robbers, I was convinced that it was not the book for me. However, always looking for something unique, I read the 53 pages and found that I couldn’t have been more wrong. It is a remarkable story; the narrator’s voice captivated me from the first line, and never let go. Prompted by pressure from a journalist anxious for an interview, the mature main character, a famous, reclusive artist, recalled past, disturbing events from her youth. Both storylines were interesting and engaging, and I am sure tragic. This will be on my 2022 To-Be-Read pile for certain. I am already anxious for its release.
