Beautifully written. I love that the introduction includes color immediately. Sarai Walker is new to me but the way she described everything gave me "Where the Crawdads Sing" vibes. She is painting a vivid picture for the reader. A recluse in hiding who is on the verge of having her true identity revealed is a great premise in itself. Add in the family curse she is running and, up to this point, very well hiding from, and this is one mystery I can't wait to uncover! Dual timelines are one of my favorite things so that's an added bonus.
