I absolutely love the cover and it is the first thing that drew me to the book. The colors don't class with each other too much and the title really stand out even though it is yellow against some pastels. The flowers and rifle look like they were drawn in colored pencil and help to offset the title format on the cover while still appearing clean to the eye and adding a personal touch.
After reading the first look, the art on the cover acts as a nice tie-in to the story. Walker does a great job of introducing and describing our main character by detailing their interactions, thoughts, and experiences, rather than providing a blanket description. The emotion and curiosity I felt from reading this excerpt makes me interested it how the story plays out.
