This book had me at its summary. Creepy Victorian house, family curses, gothic-anything- I am down for anything with those keywords. Reading the actual sample, I wasn’t too drawn in by the present day perspective but the following chapter and section from 1950 was pure gothic goodness and I’m all in it to win it again. Not a fan of the cover at all, it’s unique but doesn’t seem to fit the style of the narrative at all. That said, this book seems like it has a lot going on and I’d give it a longer try.
