'The Changing Man' by Tomi Oyemakinde initially reminded me of 'The Whisper Man' by Alex North. It is a YA book and I enjoyed the plot setup during the first part of the book. Ife's character and that of her friends were well developed and the cast of characters were manageable. However, things turned a bit macabre as the story advanced and I felt the overall theme was a bit too immature for my taste. The outcome for 'the changing man' was as I expected but the final 'battle' was rather vivid and drawn out requiring a bit more fantastical imagery than I am capable of. While the descriptions didn't gross me out, they didn't really trigger any response from me. Overall I would recommend the book for teen readers but I'm not sorry I read it. I would like to thank BookishFirst and Fiewel and Friends Publishers for putting this copy in my hands. I rate it three stars.
