Susan Shapiro's The Byline Bible: Get Published in 5 Weeks is a great resource for writers who are looking to get published. The book is filled with advice from identifying your target audience to how to submit your piece. What I really like are the examples of published articles from her students. You can learn a lot from seeing how good writing is done. There are, also, exercises and numbered lists.
The layout makes the book very easy to read, and more importantly in my opinion, easy to reference. While I have not read this book cover to cover, I like being able to flip to a topic and quickly read more about it. I definitely recommend this book for writers. The introduction alone will make you want to take a class with Susan Shapiro.
