I enjoyed reading The Byline Bible. Susan Shapiro gave clear concise instructions as well as provided many samples so aspiring writers can follow. Shapiro discusses several different types of writing with a big focus on first-person essays and op-eds but also includes tips on the genres like humor.
I really like her insider info and sharing her own stories. The only thing I came away with is where to start? Being totally new, I don't know who to contact. She gives several examples and tells you to research but a little handy appendix on some of the sources would have given me a way to start in a world of thousands of publications.
I am so glad to have this book. I truly believe it will help me with my writing goals.
