Overall, this book ended up being just fine for me. The pacing was very up and down. Sometimes it was very fast paced, other times it dragged for me. The romance was good and I liked the representation that was in it, which is not always present in fantasy stories. It opened up with a bang and had me invested early on. As the story progressed I found myself losing interest and hoping something else big would start happening. I felt like a lot of what I was interested in happened in the beginning and I struggled to keep picking it up as the story kept going. So it was a weird reading experience for me overall. Again, I liked the romance, but it wasn’t enough to keep me interested in the story as a whole. The characters were written well, even if I didn’t completely connect with them to a point where I really cared about their well being. For it, it was a fine read.
