The premise of this book is so amazing! The YA trope of a girl disguising herself as a boy is common enough, but this is different - here, the girl actually transforms herself into a boy! And not only that, her companion can change forms at will. I've never read anything like this before, and I loved it! YA fantasy is my favourite genre, and this book is a welcome departure from the generic themes of YA fantasy. The author's writing pulled me in right from the beginning, and I started to care for the characters very early on, too. It was easy to connect with Teo - she's quick-witted and compassionate and strong. I can't wait to read more of these characters and this story, if the series continues (which I hope it does!).
