I would have to rate this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars. I was excited and pumped when I read the excerpt and I'll repeat again, I couldn't stop reading it. However, when I got the book and eventually got time enought to read it I felt myself less enthused for the story. There seemed to be a lot of dead space in certain parts involving the main characters and supporting. There were also instances where certain backstories to the characters were underdeveloped or not described as well as I feel it should have been. It was hard to follow the budding relationship between Cielo and Teo, there were times where I knew what was going on and other times not. Fortunately, I got through the whole book and I did very much enjoy it but there were these problems in it for me. I understand that my version is an Advanced Reader's copy and the original may change from the version I read, I won't be reading the published version. I haven't read many books about the mafia, I haven't even seen the all time classic The Godfather (no I really haven't), I can say though with this book being a fantasy/fiction genre it is a refreshing take on a family with their fair share of problems to come together and mostly solid through the hard times. A lot of the fantasy/fiction books I read in the past have families who do have a lot of problems but usually the families are hell bent on making eachothers lives a living hell or in some cases they're all trying to kill eachother. Yes, you might be laughing at me as you read this book but you have to hand it to the author the di Sangrio family is SOLID.

I enjoyed this book, flaws and all. I hope you will as well!
