I have to admit right off the bat that I expected the story to go in a very different direction. However, I still really enjoyed the story. I had a little bit of difficulty keeping my focus on the story while reading the physical copy, but the audiobook was narrated wonderfully and I was able to follow along.
This Italy-inspired fantasy novel is one that I think is different from anything I have ever read. I love the magic system, how all Strega's have different types of magic even from those who are related to them. It is unique to them, even as they grow stronger. Teodora's magic alone was unique enough to keep me listening to the story while I followed along in the book.
The writing was so well done that there are countless sentences and sayings that I highlighted to go back to later on. I really enjoy how the author chose to relay Teo's story.
